Exams, Diversity, and Will

I guess I'm just going to have to come to the realization that there are only a few days left til Christmas. It just doesn't feel right... I just don't feel prepared in the least. Maybe it's those exams... why must they insist that you retain information that you learned ALL the way back in August? Cumulative my tukus. If I was a teacher (which, fortunately, I am not) I would let my students lipsync to their favorite song in front of the class. (Yes, even if I taught Civil War History, which I would not because I know nothing about it... ok, there was honest Abe... and Scarlet O'Hara... )

I'm home for the holidays. I'm wondering if anyone in Gatlinburg celebrates anything but Christmas. It would be interesting to know if there was some Kwanza happening on the craft loop, or if someone was lighting a menorah on Airport road. Somehow, I seriously doubt it. Oh right- our area is lacking something... DIVERSITY.

I watched Bewitched tonight. It was actually pretty cute. I wasn't expecting anything AMAZING, but it was not bad. Will Ferrel is, in a word, amazing. I watched Anchorman again last night... can I just say that I think I peed a little? When Brick kills a man with a trident... I peed. When the news team sings "Afternoon Delight," I pee a little. It's sheer genius.

Well, I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday season. I may write another blog, but given my history... I'm going to guess probably not.

Drink plenty of eggnog...

Hey everyone- sorry it's been so long since I've written in here... I know, I'm terrible. Actually, I've been terribly busy lately. Right now I'm in South Carolina on my laptop in a Hampton Inn... but that's another story...

**UPDATE: The AIDS memorial (that I asked for suggestions from you all) went very well. Mitch and I sang Seasons of Love acapella as a duet. Then we sang our solos acapella (His Eye is on the Sparrow, and Somewhere) during the candlelight vigil. It was very emotional.
Then- we did our same songs for the Broadway Cares benefit concert. It was QUITE fun. It felt good to be singing for a cause.

Don't you hate when you just aren't tired? I think it's time for a CSW (for those of you that aren't aware of my twisted internal lingo - that means "Current Standings With..." I always put these in my actual journals that I've kept since I was 7. So here it goes- my first online CSW:

School: EXAMS... that's really all I have to say. I don't have to explain the evilness to other college students.
Employment: I actually have a job... that I really enjoy. I'm working at the Mclung Museum at Circle Park. My boss is awesome, as are my coworkers. How could anyone not like have a replica of Lucy the hominid where they work? Yeah... what now?
Drag Shows: Ummmm... Yes please! Casey, Katie, and I went to "Flames of Knoxville"... and it rocked! Everyone should definitely go next year... if not for the entertainment, for the fact that one of their names was Champelle.
Beaufort, SC: Quite nice. I'm there right now.
Socks: I'm really not a fan. They make lint between my toes, and who wants that?
The Food Pyramid: I'm loving the new one. It's nice and... specific. Check it out- http://www.food pyramid.gov
The Bird Flu: Ok, I'm getting mixed messages on this thing. Is it going to wipe out everyone on the earth... or just the chickens? Honestly, who knows? It's all speculation. I love how the media is like.. "Don't worry about it... it's only a PANDEMIC! Run for your lives! If you see a chicken, BOLT!" Allright... they aren't like that, but you know what I mean...
The names of paint colors: Gingerbread, Seawall, Garden Fairy, Spiced Vinegar, Braided Raffia, Pumpkin Patch, Gentle Doe... just to name a few. I want the job of coming up with names for paint. If someone can find me that job... I'll paint their house "Allspice."

Ok- I think I'm done for tonight. We have a long drive back tomorrow... (I'm still not tired, by the way. Damn!)

Oh- I should write one before Christmas- but JUST in case- Happy Festivus!

Mari (See- I'd call that "Periwinkle Pushover" - in case anyone is hiring...)
